Wise FusionMail is currently in development as a modern, open-source groupware and mail solution. Based on a fork of Zimbra, FusionMail is being enhanced with enterprise-grade features to deliver a comprehensive, turnkey platform—without the burden of traditional licensing fees.
Our planned distribution model includes:
- Long-Term Support (LTS) Builds – Available as precompiled binaries with access to professional support via subscription.
- Community Builds – Non-LTS versions will be freely available, supported by the open-source community.
This page will be updated with additional details as development progresses.
What is FusionMail
FusionMail is a groupware system forked off of Zimbra due to our view on the stewardship under Synacor and we feel that they are more going to close down more and more over time and Carbonio CE although is a good alternative changes too much of the classic Zimbra stack. Wise has used Zimbra since 5.x and has knowledge of the inner workings and want to provide a enterprise-grade mail solution while being open source.
FusionMail Licensing
Licensing is only needed if you want to use an LTS build with support and binaries. If you want to use it without licensing, you must use a CI build, or you can build the latest LTS from source (with community support only). This is similar to the model that VyOS uses. Licensing is also really needed if you want support from Wise and if you only need community support, you do not need licensing.
We want to provide homelabbers with an easy way to setup an email stack with all the enterprise features that options like Exchange and Zimbra have without paying top dollar for it. Homelabbers don't really need long support windows or back-ports, so using the latest CI builds is enough to get them going, and if you want enterprise grade LTS builds, then a license is for you.
Licensing pricing will be released when we have our first LTS release, and will be in packs of 10 users.
